The Whale Watching Center is the central hub for whale watching activity. Its educational Whale Watching Spoken Here® program coordinates volunteers along the coast during whale watch weeks. Their efforts span three states and 24 sites.

You can volunteer for the winter, spring, or summer programs and you don’t need to be a whale expert. You’ll need one weekend of training. During the program, you watch your site for at least two days for three hours. You also need to set up a sign and report your findings when you’re finished.

Volunteers camp for free in the nearest coastal state parks during training weekends and watch weeks. If you want to volunteer, you’ll need to preregister. Details are available here.

If you’d rather stay in comfort, we offer luxury accommodation in the Depoe Bay area. You can spot gray whales from the comfort of your own terrace or patio.
