Sparks Art Gallery

Justin Sparks always appreciated animals. He worked at the Fort Worth Zoo, The World Bird Sanctuary in Eureka, Missouri, The Wolf Sanctuary in Eureka, Missouri and he studied native songbirds under a U.S. Government grant.

His work captures the personality of the animal without using photography. Instead, he brings animals to life on watercolor board with paint and gouache. Justin is a Depoe Bay resident, but his work travelled across the U.S. and into Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. His subjects include a screaming bald eagle, ducks skittering across a lake as they launch, and a lone turtle poking its nose out of a lily pond. Each whimsical piece offers a snapshot of the many animals he came to know over the years and their unique AND diverse personalities.
